Overview

In November 2025, Lusha updated the Industry filter taxonomy to provide clearer, more standardized industry classifications. This update affects the Industry and Sub-Industry fields in your CRM integration.

As part of this update:

  • Some industries were renamed for better clarity

  • New industries were added to cover emerging sectors

  • Outdated industries were removed

Use Cases

This taxonomy update is relevant if you:

  • Sync Industry or Sub-Industry fields from Lusha to your CRM

  • Use industry data for segmentation, reporting, or lead routing

  • Have automation or workflows triggered by industry values

  • Filter or search contacts based on industry in your CRM

How to Update

The update process depends on your CRM field type. Follow these steps:

  1. Check your field mapping

    • Navigate to Lusha CRM Integration → Manage → Field Mapping

    • Verify if you're using the Industry or Sub-Industry fields

  1. Identify your CRM field type

    • In your CRM, check the field type for Industry and Sub-Industry fields

    • Determine if each field is configured as:

      • Text/String field – No action needed

      • Picklist field – Continue to Step 3

  2. Update picklist values (if applicable)

    • Download the complete list of new industries

    • In your CRM, update your picklist values to match the new taxonomy

    • Ensure both active and inactive values are updated to prevent data sync issues

  3. Test your integration

    • Sync a few test contacts to verify data flows correctly

    • Check that industry values appear as expected in your CRM

CRM-Specific Instructions

  • Salesforce: Update picklist values in Setup → Object Manager → [Object] → Fields & Relationships

  • HubSpot: Update dropdown options in Settings → Properties → [Industry field]

  • Pipedrive: Update field options in Settings → Data fields → [Industry field]

FAQs

Q: Do I need to update my CRM if I use text/string fields?

A: No action is needed. Text/string fields will automatically sync with the new industry names without any configuration changes.

Q: What happens if I don't update my picklist values?

A: Your CRM integration may fail to sync industry data, or new industry values may not appear in your CRM. Contacts with updated industries may show blank or error values.

Q: How do I know if I'm using picklist or text fields?

A: In your CRM, navigate to your field settings. Picklist fields have a dropdown with predefined values, while text/string fields allow free-form text entry.

Q: Can I keep both old and new picklist values temporarily?

A: Yes, you can add new values while keeping old ones temporarily. However, we recommend removing old values once all contacts have been migrated to avoid confusion.

Q: Will this affect my CRM workflows or automations?

A: If your workflows trigger based on specific industry values, you'll need to update them to reference the new industry names.

Q: What if I use custom industry values in my CRM?

A: Custom values you've added manually will remain unchanged. However, any values synced from Lusha will use the new taxonomy.

Q: How long does it take to update picklist values?

A: Updating picklist values typically takes 10-15 minutes, depending on your CRM platform and the number of industries you use.

Q: Will I lose any data during this update?

A: No data will be lost. However, contacts with removed or renamed industries will be updated to reflect the new taxonomy.
