Once your sequence is built, you can review the full flow, activate it, and monitor how it performs. You can also manage contacts within a sequence and edit it at any time.
Reviewing and activating your sequence
The full sequence flow is visible on the right-hand side panel. From here you can rename the sequence, review each step, and make changes before going live.
When you're ready, click Activate campaign. You can also save it as a draft and activate it later.
💡 Note: Pause your sequence if you're not ready for emails to go out yet.
Managing contacts within a sequence
Go to the Contacts tab inside a sequence to manage individual contacts. Select the contacts you want to take action on, then use the action panel that appears at the top:
Activate — start the sequence for selected contacts
Pause — temporarily pause sending for selected contacts
Remove — permanently remove selected contacts; they will not receive any remaining steps
You can also filter by Active or Paused status, or search for contacts by name using the search bar.
Editing existing sequences
Click the three dots (…) next to a sequence to rename it or duplicate it. A duplicated sequence copies the steps but removes all contacts — the owner will be whoever duplicated it. Admins can duplicate other team members' sequences.
You can also Pause or Delete a sequence from the same menu.
Missing data - Placeholder to customize
If you see a placeholder to customize warning on a sequence, it means one of your emails contains a variable wrapped in [[…]] — such as Job Title — that isn't populated for that contact. Lusha automatically blocks that email from sending to prevent empty personalization fields going out.
To resolve this:
Open the affected sequence.
Switch to the Email step.
Find the contact row marked with the orange placeholder icon.
Click Personalize, then fill in the missing detail or delete the variable entirely.
Click Save.
Once all brackets are filled or removed, the warning disappears and the email will send.
Run a quick Preview before launching any sequence to catch remaining placeholders and confirm every message is fully personalized.
💡 Note: While a sequence is active, Lusha monitors your inbox for related activity and updates the status in real time. If no emails are sent, opened, or received for three weeks, monitoring shifts to once every 24 hours. Activity detection restores real-time monitoring automatically.
