Overview
Refine My ICP is a new feature that helps you tailor the recommendations you see in your Playlist Catalog to fit better the companies and contacts you want to sell to.
You can describe your ideal customer in plain language or choose attributes like roles, industries, and company sizes. But rather than defining your ICP from scratch, the assistant refines it based on the companies and contacts you've previously saved or revealed.
Lusha’s AI uses this behavioral signal to update and refresh your recommendations daily, so you keep seeing leads that are increasingly relevant to your actual prospecting activity.
How it works
Open a recommendation list
This feature is available on recommendation-based lists only.
Click “Refine what you’re looking for”
You’ll find the button at the top-right of eligible lists.Describe your ideal customer profile
Use natural language (e.g., “Show me CMOs at SaaS companies in California”) to tell Lusha who matters to you.Use pre-defined filter texts for guidance (optional)
If you're not sure what to write, use the suggested filter texts like job title, industry, or company size in your prompts.Review your matched preferences
Lusha will translate your request into structured preferences shown below the prompt. You can review what it picked up before applying.Click “Apply”
Once confirmed, your recommendations will be refined within 24 hours and continuously updated based on your ICP.
How often can I refine my ICP?
You can refine your ICP once every 24 hours per recommendation list. Once applied, your preferences will guide how Lusha’s AI tailors and refreshes your recommendations daily.
You can update your inputs more than once a day, even if changes aren't immediately visible in the recommendations. However, the updated recommendations will only refresh every 24 hours.
This ensures the system has enough time to process your inputs and deliver improved, relevant results. Come back tomorrow to see your refined suggestions in the Playlist Catalog.
FAQs
Q: What is “Refine My ICP”?
A: “Refine My ICP” is a feature that lets you refine Lusha’s AI about who you want to reach — using plain language or suggested filters. Once submitted, your recommendations will be optimized to better match your ideal customer profile.
Q: Where can I use Refine My ICP?
A: Currently, it’s available only in AI-powered recommendation lists (unavailable in CRM-based or search-based recommendations). It’s not available in static or manually created lists.
Q: How do I submit my ICP preferences?
A: Just describe the roles, industries, company sizes, or locations that matter to you in a short sentence — like “Show me CMOs at SaaS companies in California.”
You can also click on suggested filters below the input to guide your prompt.
Q: Can I use both free text and the pre-defined filter texts?
A: Yes. You can describe your audience in free text, use the pre-defined filter texts, or combine both. These act as helpful prompts to guide the assistant in understanding the traits you care about. You’ll always see a preview of how your input is interpreted before saving.
Q: How often can I refine my ICP?
A: You can adjust your ICP input as often as you like, but updated recommendations based on your changes will only appear after 24 hours. This gives the system enough time to refresh your results with your latest preferences.
Q: Will refining impact all my recommendations?
A: No, refinements are list-specific. If you apply it in one list, only that list’s recommendations will change. You’ll need to refine each list separately if you want tailored results in multiple lists.
Q: What if I don’t see the refine option?
A: It’s likely the list you’re in doesn’t support refinement. Make sure you’re in a reveal-based or signal-based recommendation list.
Q: Do I need to re-submit if I’m not happy with the results?
A: You can revise your preferences as often as you'd like. However, your updated recommendations will only refresh every 24 hours, so any changes made within that window will appear in the next daily update.
Q: What if I don’t know what to write?
A: No worries — just start with a simple sentence like:
“Target CFOs in fintech companies” or use the provided filters to guide your selection. The more specific you are, the better your results.
