Overview

Sequences are outreach campaigns consisting of multiple sequential contact points and tasks that you can tailor to personally engage your target audiences on a large scale.

Sequences enable your team to communicate effectively with customers and complete the appropriate tasks at the optimal times, accelerating the progress of prospects through your sales pipeline and converting them into paying customers as efficiently as possible.

Sequences Setup

Please note, your sequences can only be sent after you integrate your email account. As of now, you can only integrate the email you use to sign in to Lusha.

Step 1 - Create your first email sequence

  1. Launch Lusha and click Engage on the left nav bar.

  2. Under Sequences in the menu, click on New Sequence in the top right corner.

Now you will have two options to create an email sequence: Select from Email templates or Create from scratch.

Create New Sequences From Scratch

Select Create from scratch as your sequence builder to get started.

You can start creating the first email in your sequence using your own words.

Let’s get familiar with the email builder and customize it to your needs.

Customize and edit your email:

1. Enter the title of your email in the subject line.

2. You can add the personalization fields above the email body (in blue). These fields will be pulled with the correct data points of each contact for a more personalized message.

3. You can choose to include your signature (Currently, available for Gmail users only)

4. Review your message in the preview screen on the right.

5. Send yourself a test email and be sure to view it through both desktop and mobile devices. You can do so by clicking Send test.

6. Set up your message send time. It can be either on activation so that the email will be sent as soon as the sequence is active:

Or, sent according to the timing of your choice:

When you have adjusted your email settings to your liking, click Save.

After you create your first email, you will be taken to a screen where you will see all the emails composed under this sequence.

Continue to add more emails to your sequence using this same process by clicking +Add email.

Set how much time you’d like to delay until this email is sent (days, hours, minutes) after the previous email:

To add more emails to the sequence, continue the same process.

💡 You will be able to go back to each email and edit it when needed, even if it’s part of an active scheduled sequence. You can also edit specific messages directed at specific contacts.

Note: You can write up to 45K characters per email.

The next step in building the sequence is Adding your contacts. You can jump to this section, or learn how to create an email sequence using a premade template.

Create New Sequences With an Email Template

Select Email template as your sequence builder to get started.

Choose a template from the engagement scenarios that best suits the reason for your outreach and click on Customize templates.

From this screen you can customize the email sequence template.

Click on the email you want to customize and personalize it to fit your needs.

💡 All of the templates are top-performing sequences, written by sales and marketing experts to get the highest open and response rates. However, every part of the email template can be edited to your preference.

Customize and edit your email:

1. You can change the title of your email in the subject line.

2. We have included brackets [[ ]] to indicate where you should add additional personalization details. Just add your details instead of the [[ ]] fields.

💡 It's important that you customize these details, otherwise the email template will be sent to your audience as is.

3. You can add and change the personalization fields above the email body (in blue). These fields will be pulled with the correct data points of each contact for a more personalized message.

4. You can choose to include your signature (this option is not available for Outlook users).

5. Review your message in the preview screen on the right.

6. Send yourself a test email and be sure to view it on both desktop and mobile devices. You can do so by clicking Send test.

7. Set up your message send time: Same as Create New Sequences From Scratch, It can be either on activation, so that the email will be sent as soon as the sequence is active, or sent according to the timing of your choice.

After you have adjusted the email to your liking, click Save.

Once you customize the first email in the sequence, you will be brought back to the screen where you will see all the emails composed under this sequence.

Continue to customize all emails in the sequence using this same process.

💡 Each template comes with pre-set gap times between the emails in the sequence. These are recommendations that you can change as you see fit.

You can adjust the timing at the top of the email builder in the ‘Send this email’ box.

Step 2 - Adding your contacts

To start building your audience, click Add Contacts.

You can currently choose from the two available options which are 'Add from list' or 'Add from prospecting'. Uploading a CSV file is a feature on the roadmap that will become available in the future.

You can also choose to skip this step and add your audience later.

If you already have a ready list of customers you want to send the emails to, click on 'Add from list'.

From here, you can select the list to which you want to send the sequence.

You can also de select or remove contacts from the list.

You can filter contacts from previous sequences:

  • Cold - Contacts who have never received an email

  • Contacted - Contacts who have already received an email from your Lusha user, but haven't replied over the course of the last 3 weeks.

  • Opened - Contacts that have opened the email from their end.

  • Replied - Contacts who have replied at least once in a previous sequence

  • Unresponsive - Contacts who have received an email but never replied, and it has been over 3 weeks

  • Bounced - The email was never delivered

There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating an audience for each sequence. If needed, click away from the Engage to Prospecting and create a new list, you can then return to your sequence to add that new list to your audience.

To approve the list, click Add (#) contacts

💡 Note: To prevent your email provider from flagging your emails as spam, there is a limit of 1000 emails per day. Modify your sequences accordingly.

Step 3 - Set up your sequence schedule

Your sequence can be delivered on specific days and at the time of your choice.

💡 Each sequence can only be sent to one specific time zone. Make sure to choose the relevant time zone.

For example, if your audience list has contacts from both Australia and the US, it’s best to split the sequence into two separate sequences so that there is an appropriate schedule for each audience.

Note that emails will only be sent in the specific time frame you select. If your emails are scheduled to be sent every 3 days, it only refers to the days chosen during scheduling.

Click Review and Activate and get ready to launch your sequence.

Step 4 - Overview and optimize

You can now view the full sequence flow on the right-hand side and make any changes if needed. You can also change the name of the sequence

Once you are ready to launch your sequence click "Activate campaign" or you can also save it as a draft and activate it later.

Want to follow up on your sequences and delivery status?

Click back to 'Sequences' tab and view the status of all your sequences on the 'Engage Dashboard'.

If you would like to know which email was read by the contact, you can go to your sequence > press on the "Email" tab > choose the relevant contact. You will see what is the status of each email that was sent.

💡 Don’t forget to pause your sequences if you don’t want emails to be sent yet.

Your sequences are now ready!
