When you upload a CSV file for enrichment, Lusha attempts to match each row to a contact or company in its database and fill in missing fields. This article explains how that matching works, what affects your match rate, and what to do when a file shows lower results than expected.
How Lusha matches your contacts
Lusha uses identity signals from the columns in your file to find matches. The more signals you include, the more accurate the match. In order of matching strength:
LinkedIn URL β the most reliable identifier. If present, Lusha matches directly to the profile.
Email address β a strong signal for contacts already in the Lusha database.
Full name + Company name β used when LinkedIn URL and email are absent. Less precise for common names.
Full name + Company domain β similar to name + company name, with slightly higher precision.
π‘ Tip: Including a LinkedIn URL column significantly improves match rates. Even partial URLs (e.g. linkedin.com/in/jane-doe) are accepted.
What data Lusha adds
Once a match is found, Lusha enriches the row with available data. This can include: business email, direct dial, mobile phone, job title, seniority, department, LinkedIn URL, company name, company domain, industry, employee count, and location.
Understanding your match rate
After processing, your file shows two key numbers:
Scanned rows β the total number of rows Lusha attempted to match
Enriched β the number of rows where at least one new field was added
Match rates vary based on the quality of your input data. Common reasons for a low match rate:
Missing identity fields (no LinkedIn URL, email, or company name)
Contacts not present in Lusha's database
Stale or incorrect company names
Personal (non-business) email addresses in the email column
Enriched vs. Potential enrichment
Some rows show a Potential enrichment count. This means Lusha identified a match but would need additional credits to reveal phone number data for those contacts. Click Enrich X phones to unlock those fields using your credit balance.
File expiry
Enriched files are available to download for a limited time after processing. Once a file expires, the status changes to Expired and the download is no longer available. Your results are still saved as a Workspace Table and remain accessible via View list.
Now you know exactly what to include in your next upload to get the best results.
