Intent data shows which companies are actively researching topics relevant to your product - so you can reach out when buying signals are strongest. This guide covers how to configure your intent topics and use intent data across Lusha Search and your CRM integration.
π‘ Note: Only Admins can set intent topics for account users. The number of topics available depends on your plan.
Step 1 - Select your intent topics
Log in to your Lusha dashboard and go to Settings β Intent.
Use the search bar or scroll to find relevant topics. Selected topics appear in the Selected Topics panel on the right.
Optionally, click Upload CSV to bulk-upload a list of topics.
Click Save selection.
π‘ Note: Admins can reset intent topics directly from the platform under Intent settings - no need to contact Support. Resetting is available every 30 days from the date the last topic was added.
Step 2 - Understand intent signals
Before prospecting, here are the key terms:
Intent Score β a company-level score based on how many of your selected topics they are actively engaging with.
Signal score β a topic-level score indicating how strongly a company is engaging with a specific topic. Hover over the topic icons in search results to see it.
Signal trends β shows whether a company's intent score has gone up (β), stayed flat (0), or dropped (β) compared to the previous week.
Level of Intent (Search only) β categorises companies into Very Hot, Hot, or Warm based on engagement level.
Very Hot β actively seeking solutions; probably talking to vendors. Reach out immediately.
Hot β in an active buying journey. Reach out with value-led messaging.
Warm β just starting to explore. Nurture with educational content.
Using Intent in Lusha Search
Go to Prospecting β Companies.
Apply the Intent filter and select your topics from the dropdown. You can select individual topics or Select All.
Use Or / And logic when selecting multiple topics.
Filter by Level of Intent: Very Hot, Hot, or Warm.
Select companies individually or in bulk, then click View employees to switch to Contacts view in Intent Mode.
In Intent Mode, apply additional contact-level filters to refine your list. Click Regenerate more contacts (up to 4 times) to refresh results with similar high-intent prospects.
Select contacts and click Show details to reveal contact information.
Save to a list, export to CRM, or export to CSV.
Intent topics and trends in the results table
Intent signals are visible directly in the company results table so you can compare companies at a glance.
Exporting company data
In the Search tab, select the companies you want to export.
To export in bulk, click Export. To export up to 10,000 companies at a time, deselect all contact selections β an Export 10K button will appear.
A CSV will download to your browser.
π‘ Note: Bulk company export can only be performed once per hour.
Intent CRM integration
You can push intent data directly to your CRM at the company level, enriching records with intent topic count and average scores.
Before you begin: make sure your intent topics are saved and your CRM integration is connected. See Integrations for setup guides.
Go to Settings β Integrations and select your CRM.
Click Manage Integration.
3. In the Field mapping section, select Intent from the dropdown at the bottom of the page.
4. Match the Lusha and CRM fields.
5. Click Save. Intent data will now flow into your CRM automatically.
FAQs
Who can use the Intent filter?
All Lusha users can filter by intent topics. Full export capabilities (10K companies) are exclusive to Scale users.
How does the topic-synergy scoring system work?
Companies are ranked based on the number and relevance of topics they're engaging with - the most significant signals appear first.
How does the Topic Count Trend feature work?
It tracks weekly changes in the number of topic hits per company, so you can monitor buying momentum over time.
